I have a 2005 XKR and the remote fob has stopped working. Replaced batteries, gone through the rebooting procedure and had Jaguar look at the problem. They say the unit won't respond to the fob and they now don't have suitable equipment to rectify it ...the car is too old
Anybody had similar problems and if so how did you rectify them

Several of our club members have employed the services of this guy, with great success. Might be worth considering for the moderate cost:I have a 2005 XKR and the remote fob has stopped working. Just fixed a key fob myself. Not difficult. There are a couple of Youtube vids which show the procedure. Here is one of them which served my purpose well. https://www.google.co.uk/url?sa=t&rct=j ... 5j0-Q6yODG
A new battery fitted, switches on pc board clear of gunk and further cleaned with a pencil rubber. All working again now. Worth a try?

Thanks for your help. I think I may have miss lead you. I don't have a problem with the fob, the issue is that the in-car receiver unit won't respond to the fob. My Jaguar garage have tried to reboot the in-car unit but are unable to rectify problem ( they say their software is now not suitable for the age of my XK8).
I have tried the re-boot method shown on You Tube, with no success.

If your Jaguar dealer believes the problem can solved by rebooting the system but it no longer has the correct equipment, the best bet would be to take the car to an independent Jaguar specialist. Many of them, like David Marks garages at Nottingham still have the necessary kit. Mike.
