Headlight bulb

Postby andypryce » Mon Oct 23, 2017 9:41 pm

Hi all,

Can anyone tell me which is correct headlight bulb for 2006 XK with HID headlights? I think it is a D1S, but some sites say D2S. Thanks.

Andy,

As per my headlight change article with my 350, examine the front of the external plastic headlights. You may find DS1 or DS2 moulded into the plastic...usually the lower edge. Otherwise, you might need to remove the lamp itself to see what it actually is.

Well worth going the Osram HID Nightbreaker route if you have one lamp gone. The failure of the second one may not be far behind. A matched pair of Nightbreakers will have you driving with a huge improvement in illumination. The price (pun) difference shouldn`t be much more than the standard OE Toc H lamps fitted at the factory. Well worth the extra outlay.

There are two types of burner fitted to XKs so, as Mike K says, it would be best to check. Later (LED running lamp cars) use a D3S burner but Jaguar only describes the earlier cars as having a, '35w headlamp burner' which has a different part number and cost. Mike.

All done, yes it is a D1S, and yes it is stamped on the top of the headlight! Night breakers fitted, so hopefully will be brighter...
