Workshop manual

Postby miked1 » Tue Jun 20, 2017 12:30 pm

Can anyone advise the best place to obtain a comprehensive workshop manual to suit an XK8 4.0 in build December 1998 , registered March 1999. I need to replace the power latch hydraulic pipes ( 1 burst ! ) and it looks a mare of a job . I've no doubt I'll need a manual for many other jobs over the coming years ! :?

Hi - I've nothing to offer in terms of a ROM but I will observe that the hydraulic fluid congealing is a known problem with these cars. I'm wondering if that is the cause of the burst pipes?
I would recommend changing the fluid and flushing the pipes through while you've got it all apart!

Thanks David , however , the fluid was anything but congealed ! Rather more like gnats p ! The air temp was particularly hot at the time ! just need to know the best way to remove the pipe( s ) .

This link should answer most of your queries http://www.jagrepair.com/RoofHoseReplacement.htm

The host site for that article is www.jagrepair.com and is an invaluable source of technical information for many modern Jaguars.

Thanks for that info . I thought it was going to be a nightmare ! The only good thing was that , my roof was already in the lowered position !
How did you attach the old pipes to the new , tape or double male connectors ?
Regards ,
Mike .

Try this previous response to a similar query (viewtopic.php?f=62&t=6657#p31703). Mike.

This is my most favourite document when it comes to V6 and V8 Jag engines. Worth book marking or downloading for future reference.
