Hi,
I had a problem with my fob failing to work so purchased another one (second hand) off ebay. I had an auto locksmith come out to programme the fob for me however he couldn't manage to do it either with my fob or a brand new one he tried. He said it appears that the fault is with the car not going into learning mode and suggested I maybe try online forums to see if anyone has had the same issue or maybe able to direct me as to what is causing the fault.
Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

Re: New key fob will not register
If you use the search facility on this site it brings up about 45 threads under 'key fob programming'. I've not read through any of them so they may or may not contain suitable answers.
If your locksmith is correct that your car is not entering 'program mode', this common problem has a thread on the jaguarforum site, which has noted a high number of faults relating to the Drivers Door Module (DDM) being responsible for this condition. Apparently these are no longer available from Jaguar so you would have to obtain a second hand one. Either way, a different DDM must be programmed to the car to which it is fitted. This must be done with the SDD diagnostic software, if you have it, or a trip to the main dealer or independent to configure it if you don't.
