Glove Box Light

Postby mikeanson » Mon Jul 17, 2017 7:55 pm

Fumbling to put the satnav back in the glove box the other night, i wondered why it didn't have a light in there. It does - aha! maybe the bulb is blown - no it isn't. Just tried it again just now: - ignition on - no light. Ignition off - no light. I assume it doesn't have it's own fuse. Is there something obvious I'm missing before I take the switch apart? The switch seems to be intact with a good spring.

Hi BB, I think I did try with the lights on, but can't be sure. I'll try again tomorrow before getting the meter on it. I'm wondering if there is a wire loose on the switch. I can see a red and white wire on the bulb holder. I assume that's the 12V supply.

Fixed it. The red and white wire was actually floating about as the tag had snapped off. How that would have happened, I have no idea! Anyway, a minute or two with the soldering iron and all glove box illumination is restored.
