Parking aid unavailable

Postby andypryce » Sat Jul 15, 2017 11:49 am

Well, I managed 2 weeks with no warning messages, must be a record for my jaguar ownership!

However, today I get 'Parking aid unavailable, consult Jaguar dealer'. helpful......
Any ideas anyone? I have tried listening for the 'ticking' from each sensor in reverse, but nothing from any, so presume the whole thing has shutdown. Fortunately the car is going to Bob Bate Monday for gearbox oil change, so will ask him.

The best known classic Jaguar parking epidemic. Incideous by nature and sometimes of a chronic and malicious character. One duff component causes the whole system to go flat on its back. All Jags I have owned have or have had the issue at somepoint. The bleeper bogy man has come to live behind the bumper covers.

The Torque/ELM327 or iCarsoft 930 diagnostic tools would help to confirm the likely location of any fault. Capturing a fault code in such instances is quite useful as a pointer.

I`m sure Bob will get onto it and find the fix.

Thanks Mike, I am purchasing the iCarsoft, I suspect it may get quite a bit of use.......!

The iCarsoft is good value but lacks some of the features found for instance in the Foxwell range of tools, Andy. Mike H as one and speaks highly of it.

The iCarsoft 930 irritatingly doesn`t have an EPB service mode facility which is frustrating when rear brake overhaul is needed. One has to resort to a work around method. Similarly, the Carsoft won`t allow the possibility to adjust air suspension running heights on a X350. At that point you are heading towards obtaining a professional IDS/SDD laptop with XP. There are a few around on the web for around £700 which are"refurbished" ex-garage units packaged in a Panasonic Tough Book laptop. In short, the more you pay, the larger the amount of facilities become available.

Mike, the less brave (me), just want it for the diagnostic usefulness, to pass on to others, other than very small things (eg changed an ABS sensor on the XJR) I would not delve into the mechanics to the extent that you do!
