You may have already done this. But my x300 has a nasty habit of not starting - especially just before a JEC event...
Anyway, the CPS (Crankshaft Position Sensor) keeps failing. It's very unusual to have the number of failures I have experienced. But they will prevent the car from starting or cranking when failed.
Cheers, Rob.

EML out , means no power to the ECU.
Re: 1996 X300 AJ16 4.0 not starting
Thanks for the responses. The crank position sensor has been replaced just over a month ago.
ECU was out - we have found the culprit!!! Water had been traversing through the cabling into the ECU and then exiting at the base!!
A replacement ECU was sort from ebay for £70 and seems to be doing the job so far!
Cheers, Rich

If the check engine light goes OUT, the ECU is still asleep and you will have no permission to crank, sound familiar
