Outer Passenger Side Rear Lamp Unit - help!

An idiot reversed into my 1991 XJS 4.0 facelift last week and managed to smash the outer rear lamp unit - the guy is looking to replace it himself rather than involving insurance - tried all the usual Jag part suppliers - these units seem to be out of stock everywhere are in the process of being re-manufactured and are not likely to be available until April - anyone offer any suggestions as to where i can point this bloke to get hold of one.

give him a choice

insurance claim

provide a new or nearly new part,

or settle for some cash that will cover the parts, fitting of parts and the hassle of the damage

i personally would want to claim on his insurance,

but thats me

I agree with BB - get the cash off him or else insurance claim. As you probably have realised, these haven't been available new for a couple of years now. So you're looking at a used item either way. Presume you've tried the usual sources of used parts such as Grublogger, Eurojag & Jaguar Spares North East? Also worth giving Clarke's a ring as they often have facelift models in which they are prepared to cannibalise.
