I understand that people are having difficulties getting new general spares for some areas of the X350. If you have experienced issues, please contact me and let me know what items are proving problematical to source. I`ll then do research and see what options are available.
One item I have been drawn to is the propshaft on S-type and X350. This comprises a two piece component fitted with a centre bearing in a mounting banjo and two flexi Jurid couplings at either end. It seems the Jurid couplings are no longer available for the X350 although the S-type units are still to be found. Most odd as the couplings to my knowledge are one and the same component. If you find yourself struggling to get a coupling for an X350, try sourcing one for an S-type! They are readily available it seems.
The two piece prop shaft has a support unit in the centre fitted with a bearing. These can collapse and make a clonking noise over time. I`m told this bearing and containing banjo are not available from the usual Jaguar supply chain. The option is therefore to replace the whole two piece prop unit!! However what I have found on the internet is a listing for that banjo unit at £46.99. The seller strongly advises measuring the bearing size on any X350 or S-type before ordering a replacement component. The dimension is 30mmx168mm. If your bearing unit has the same dimensions, then this component offers a far less costly option to completely removing and replacing the old prop with a new one.
