More on the book here: http://www.exclusively-jaguar.co.uk/sal ... tive-book/

It's in the final phase of production now, with a confirmed 100+ pages of stories and pictures.
A couple of final bits and pieces and we can share details on pricing/payment/shipping!

We're proud to reveal that the book will feature a rather unusual dual foreword, from two people instrumental in 'Project XJ40': Engineering Director Jim Randle and former Jaguar CEO Sir John Egan...

OK, so we have finally arrived at the "show me the money" part of this story!
The printer delivered the last piece of the cost puzzle, so here we go...

A recap of the hard facts first: a 30x30cm (12x12”) hardcover book, dark green linen silver-embossed cover and spine, with a separate dust cover. Over 100 full-colour pages, featuring more than a dozen different authors, including forewords from Sir John Egan and Jim Randle. Stories cover more than 3 decades, starting with the XJ40’s early design and development all the way up to the 30th anniversary celebration in Dunkeld this summer.

We wanted this to be a true coffee table book, and that means: pictures!
I think we have covered that angle rather well: it features visuals from 15 different photographers/organisations…
Illustrations were kindly submitted by many individuals, as well as the JHT, Paul Skilleter and Neil Fordyce Photography.

This is a non-profit project, each of us pays only for the printing/packaging costs divided by the number of copies (this edition is limited to ~100 copies). I'm waiting for a handful of order confirmations, we're roughly 20 copies short of 100 orders now.

Final book price is £38.50/€45/US$48.50/AU$65/NZ$67.50 and includes sturdy bespoke cardboard packaging.
All UK and NL-based book buyers should have received an email with payment details by now, I will send details to those based in other countries tomorrow, will need to calculate your shipping costs individually!

To reward your patience: you can find ‘work in progress’ snapshots of page & cover design in this flickr photo album: https://www.flickr.com/photos/pimgmx/se ... 5736656652.
Cover design and a few pages are there already, I will upload some more soon.

Questions or comments? Please send an email to xj40at30@gmail.com, I’ve created that mail account exclusively for book communications.

And thumbs up to Steve, great to see that a fellow JEC member broke the record for rapid payment!!!

We're doing well: 80 pre-orders in the books, 55% already paid.
A highly civilised bunch, those XJ40 enthusiasts!

We just passed a symbolic point of no return: all digital files were sent to the printer, confirming my order with them.

Next step: a sample copy for the final round of proofreading & edits...

Spent the last days of the old year proofreading and making final corrections, and now the waiting game starts...

Final versions of the book's contents, cover and dust cover were sent to the printer on Jan 2nd.
Yesterday morning I received confirmation that their production process has started.
They aim at (but no hard promises made!) a shipping date back to my home address around Jan 20th.

All UK orders will then be shipped in one single batch to my trusted distribution agent in the UK (aka Naki Towers) for cheap & cheerful local shipping, and parallel to that all non-UK orders will be shipped using Dutch Mail.

Here's the evidence:
(at the bottom it says "files OK and ready to print", for those not speaking Dutch...)

This really does look very good. I don't even have an XJ40, (yet) I've got an X300. I really fancy an XJ40 4litre Sovereign. With the 'piped-leather' of course!

Can't disagree with that, Steve!

Most cars sold in my area had straightforward interiors: parchment and other brownish-beige colours without piping, so I had to make do without... :(
