Reverse Park Sensors

Postby RichardSEL » Sat Oct 29, 2016 6:42 pm

'01MY XJ8 4L Sovereign LWB

There's no Reverse Park Sensor operation at all. No initial beep when placed into reverse.
Have checked the fuse (Fuse 3 in the boot fuse box 5A) which also protects the Audio System.
Fuse fine and I got the right one (third in from left bottom row) coz when removed Audio System doesn't work

Believe system's tiny beep speaker is situated under the parcel shelf but couldn't feel it.
Couldn't hear anything coming from the transducers but not sure what I'm supposed to be listening for

Where is the Reverse Park Sensor module located?
Where is its power feed taken from? If from the fuse box any idea what colour lead?
Is there a circuit I can get from somewheres?

Thanks

Richard,

The sensors should each make a little ticking noise when activated. You may have to listen very carefully!

If you spend a few minutes looking the Jaguar parts website, you'll see the location of the parts. Always the first port of call.

As you say, no need to check fuse if radio is working anyway. Check the sensors first, it's usually a failed sensor or the wiring plug to the module.

Cheers

While it's quiet, I'll have another listen... Nope, couldn't hear any ticking with IGN on, PB on, gear selector to Reverse. Mind you, someone's been under there as the rear bumper OS quarter's loose :?

Sounds like a useful place to go. What's the URL?

Nowadays in the street, no ramp or pit, on a hill, and somewhat rotund

Thanks Paul. Guess it's behind the rear wall of the boot then. Will have a ferret when it's light
