Oil Treatment during annual service

Postby wyahuk » Mon Jul 04, 2016 8:30 pm

My 'F' type is due for its 3 year service at Pentland Perth. They are offering a new trio oil flush which is stated to lower emissions and increase MPG. Has anyone experienced this option and if so what were the findings.

Many thanks. :?

This post appeared on our XK8 BB a while ago. Trio appears to be a fuel/emissions based process rather than oil based.

Fuel and fuel system cleanliness is certainly important but much of this type of maintenance can be carried out by a vehicle owner without even getting their hands dirty and at a much smaller cost than a Main Dealer process. Regular use of fuel injection and catalytic converter liquid additives, do much to keep systems in good order on an ongoing basis rather than blitzing an issue after a few years of use. Additives for DIY use are readily available at motoring accessory outlets for just a few pounds.

Personally i`m skeptical of the value of some of these high priced processes on vehicles that are already in good condition. For older vehicles that may have become "clogged" then the process might be of value.
