multiple fault codes

hello every body some help needed. I have just welded repair panels to both front arches and sills , i disconnected the battery and when id finished the passenger side reconnected and started the car all was good. Disconnected the battery again and welded drivers side reconnected the battery and disaster, dash shows the following scrolling messages Engine failsafe mode suspension fault, gearbox fault . Any suggestions on what ive done ?

sounds like the battery is a little low

either run up the engine for a while to charge it, or pop on an electric battery charger

other than that the battery my well be duff, and only a ' drop test ' can determine its condition , not a voltage test

got to agree with BB, sound like a battery going duff, easy and cheap to rectify though

Batteries can die with no storage capacity but with good voltage, or vicky verka or something in the middle! as Vince, says a drop lest to load the battery and then note its speed of recovery back up to good terminal voltage or not, dictates the condition of the battery.

Mikes Golden Rule. If in doubt, chuck it out! Three poor starts after attempted recharging, if still not up to the task, I don`t waste any more time with a duff battery. If below 11.5 volts, then the battery is never likely to be reliable. Call in the scrap man.

Horror of Horrors it appears that someone moved the car to get a quad bike out and left the battery connected for the second lot of welding! So i am assuming new ecu but what else will i require? clocks? keys? secodary ecus? oh its a 99 sport model if i havent already mentioned that.
once again any advice gratefully recieved.

David,

At this stage, you don't know whether you really have damaged the ecu etc. Try disconnecting the battery, charging it fully checking the voltage, then reconnect it. Don't worry at that point even if you've got warning lights. Then try and start it.

Got to agree with Paul here, see what you have under you first, if the car has been "spiked" it may well be possible to reprogramme it any way, If not a used ECU can be made to "read" your car, speak to either David Marks or XJK regarding this procedure they have the correct kit to do this

well put a fully charged battery on and no change , so have e mailed xjk as suggested thanks for your help.

You haven't said what happens when you try and start the car. Does the starter turn? Do the lights dim with a clacking sound from starter circuit? Do any lights go out etc etc?

ptjs, nothing happens at all. i emailed the people mentioned above but got no reply, so i rang a company advertising themselves as mobile electrical vehicle specialists, they advised on what parts i would need to replace and i spoke to Dave at eurojag who concurred with there list.
Dave supplied me with ecu, body module, gearbox module ,abs ,instrument cluster key locks etc
all from one car which was running.
Now the mobile electrical specialist has said he wont fit the parts as you need special software
for the gearbox module to work correctly so no further towards getting the car running but many hundreds of pounds worse off.

if....... if the ECU was damaged by the welding, why isn't the person who did that coughing up for the damage ?

i had to replace an ecu in my own X308 , all i needed was an identical ecu and for jaguar to program it into the car, total cost to me was around £250 , but that was many years ago , but the principle is the same,

i don't understand why you needed all the other modules ?

but i hope you manage to get it fixed without any further outlay ,

we have discovered that my friends son re connected battery and moved the car to get his motorbike out, parked the car back where it was but didn't disconnect battery again so we assumed battery was still disconnected and carried on welding.
