1993 XJS Radio connections

Gents,

Can anyone help me. I need a wiring diagram for the connections for the back of the radio in my car. The reference number of the radio is DAC 6571 and I really need the pin details of the 8 pin DIN socket.

Regards

Gareth

First place to look might be the CDROM which contains the wiring details of most of the different ICE options available but a DIN connection should be standard across numerous manufacturers one would think. Also try googleing the make and model of the radio as well.

Pop,

Thanks for the reply. It appears from Google (and other search engines), that the radio unit was especially made for Jag and manufacturers had to meet the Jag spec. hence there are several suppliers (Motorola, Panasonic etc.), but all, due to the spec. used the Jag wiring protocol not their own. Therefore route 1. doesn't work.

I have also looked through all the Jag manuals - printed and electronic - and there is nothing about the pin numbers on the two main connectors.

Hmmmm.......

Gareth,

93 model is likely to be either the Alpine or Clarion model and most likley the Clarion model.

Drop me an email (details in "Contacts") with your VIn and photo of the front of your radio and I MIGHT be able to find you a wiring diag which shows the colours of the wires and their destinations. No promises, but might be able to help.

Did Jaguar really move the standard European DIN wiring? That seems a bridge too far even for Jaguar??? PLUS the radio manufacturers would have had to alter all the internals on the sets to suit Jaguar spec.???

IF NOT...........
This topic has been covered previously (in electrics I think :? ), the wiring harness in all the "early" cars is labelled, later cars should have the European standard two socket fitment.

I believe that if you visit the Clarion Website there is an analysis of which wire goes in which pin on the DIN plugs, they sell the plugs and "tails" neccessary to fit a late radio in an early car.......tho' these are also available on the high street.

Hope this is of assistance.............If not and they did swap it all around then you learn something every day!
