Cruise control problem

Postby jaguar32 » Tue Sep 11, 2007 3:00 pm

Hi all,

I have a little problem with the cruise control on my 1991 XJS 5.3 LeMans. Basically the cruise control was working and then suddenly stopped for no reason I tried to rectify the fault and carrioed out some diagnostics but could find no reason, so I passed it onto my local specialist in Essex and for the first time in 8 years that I have been using him for my cars he is stumped.

The problem I have is there is no permanant power to the cruise control bellows.

All of the following have been changed to try to sort out the problem with no success to date:

Break Switch, Cruise control ECU, Cruise control bellows, Vacuum valve, Set switch, ABS ECU, Speedo Transducer

Does anyone have any ideas or have you come across a simular problem/issue?

Hi,
my comments will not help much i am afraid but just to let you know i had a similar experience with my 96 Celebration. It worked fine in all the time i had been using it which was everyday as i use the xjs for my daily driver.I carried out the usual checks and so did the specialist.Eventually i changed the switch on the ski slope again and not thinking it would work low and behold it worked fine and has been ever since(oops thats tempted fate).Sorry i cant offer practical help but at least you know that you are not the only one.Hope you sort it out.Graham
