Cruise Control Problem

Postby Robrich47 » Sun Nov 08, 2015 1:17 pm

Hallo. Got my S Type couple of weeks ago. It's a Diesel Auto. ......No more aching left foot in traffic and surprising get up and go!.... The only probs so far are, jerking when on cruise control, and seems like engine dies momentarily when turning right, as on a roundabout. (bit worrying). :?:

Not had those issues mentioned before.

The cruise control is quite closely linked to the gearbox and the engine power control modules but gearbox maintenance can account for quite a few odd issues. I`d suggest you organise a gearbox oil and filter service as soon as possible. ZF recommend an oil change at least every 80,000 miles. Oil condition can deteriorate and cause problems if not attended to. Many independent Jaguar operators now offer the service and it is worth every penny. Budget on around £350. Ensure a genuine new filter, connector and genuine ZF Lifeguard oil is installed. No short cuts with that work.

Any good garage will interrogate your car when you take it in for work. Hopefully that might find your cruise control fault.

You might consider fitting a new fuel filter as it may not have been changed. It could be you have a partially blocked fuel filter. You should see what comes out of the old unit when you take it off. No wonder power delivery can be affected if fuel cannot get through.

Just a few ideas that may help.

Well thank you Mike, for your rapid response. I will organize the actions you advise. The cruise fault is annoying, but the cutting out is more worrying. Fuel starvation was what occurred to me initially, so a new filter is first. Thanks again, :) Rob.
