Engine oil consumption

Hi
My 1994 V12 is using about 500ml of Castrol Magnatec 10W-40 per 1000 miles.
Dose this seem excessive,the car runs like a dream and only smoke's slightly on start up for a couple of minutes. Mileage 123000.
What do others think?

I've had 3 V12's in various jags including my present 6.0ltr and they all seem to use a reasonable amount of oil. The highest mileage on any of them is 95000 and I have only 85000 on a 22 year old series 3. They all seem to use about 1 ltr of oil per 1500 miles.
