Hi Andy
if you can gat on the Rover P6 forum site there is a chap who is called Harvey who has worked on the Borg Warner gearboxes all his working life, what he does not know about these boxes is not worth knowing.
It was Harvey who enlightened P6 members about the oil specifications for the gearboxes

Regards John.
PS I have entered your problem on the P6 forum so hopefully a reply will come

Hi Andy
I had a reply from the chap I talked about (Harvey) but I was a little disapointed with the reply. He said that possibly the raised incline from the front may have cause a leak at a point abover the the normal level point, He did recognise the correct gear box a DG unit or it should be.
Sorry that there was no more detailed info, but maybe others will reply.

Hi

I'm no expert on auto-boxes, but you never mentioned if any oil leaked out of the prop shaft seal while it was jacked-up! If the oil level has dropped then this could possible be the cause.
I'd suggest you drive it around and use the speed-hole to try and ensure all the chambers are full of oil, park it on level ground and check the oil level is correct.
bye-o
