Have had my 2006 2.7 sport two weeks and love the car BUT I have fumes in the air vents and now the phone system is showing no phone. I know it comes up with no bt phone when you first pair your phone. I have been through this two weeks ago and have connected Bluetooth every time I used the car. Now I have nothing just no phone. Starting to regret my decision into jags. But love the looks and drive, but if the problems keep coming it will have to go
Thanks
Martin
Oh no two weeks second problem.

Re: Oh no two weeks second problem.
If the ambient air temperature outside the car is below 4 degrees, then the chances are that you are catching fumes from the auxiliary diesel heater. This is in effect a diesel fired bomb fire in a box and burnt exhaust fumes are wafting around the car and you are finding them inside the car. I`m not a diesel owner so don`t have experience of operating the system, but you may find it beneficial to use the internal air recycling function on the air con panel. Tell us, does the fume problem only occur when the car is stationary?
As regards the phone connections, again others know more about pairing than I do. However consider that it may not be the car at fault until proven otherwise....
You have a few teething problems to sort out. Stick with it, chat to us here and perhaps take your car to a local jaguar independent repair garage and seek some professional advice.
You are running a very sophisticated car. Sophistication often has problems. As a car ages and mileage accumulates, the possibility of dis-funtioning systems and services increases. This is why people who are able, change their cars immediately they come out of manufacturers warranty. You have a nine year old car. I would expect a car of that age to have issues. Persevere and all will eventually turn out well.
To be frank and realistic, the issues you have are relatively minimal. Remember there is a cause and effect for everything. Find the cause and cure the effect.

Will do. I love the car and will get it sorted I'm sure. Just a bit worrying but no pain no gain. These are in my opinion fantastic looking cars and great to drive. Will let you know what I find out.

Re: Oh no two weeks second problem.
Take a deep breath of fresh air and have any issues methodically analysed and fixed. I have a saying. "How do you eat an elephant"? The answer is "In bite sized pieces"!
I`ve run an S-type, in fact two different ones, over the past nine years or so. This current V8 now for seven of them except for a few weeks when I sold the car to a friend then bought it back because I missed it so much. And that is an early model which is no where near as well built as the pre-facelift or facelift models!
My maintenance regime has accelerated due to the car being thirteen years old, having covered 90k miles of hard driving and now the ravages of age need radical correction. Systematically this is being achieved.
It makes little difference what car you might purchase in regard to reliability. Some makes are more reliable than others. In the grand scheme of things, our cars are probably no better and no worse than equivalent BMW. Merc or Audi models. All develop faults due to age, use and sometimes design defects. Whatever car you drive, there will always be issues that occur. Its just part of car ownership and indeed buying new doesn`t always turn out in a satisfactory way.

Will do. Like I say fanatic drive and always loved how they look. I feel myself looking at the car and thinking wow I love these cars. Must say it helps having this network to tap into.
Big thanks

Not a problem at all.
That is the reason we set the BB facility up. Namely to assist with technical matters. Since then things have mushroomed and we have all gained.

Re: Oh no two weeks second problem.
Martin, there is a longer official version of this, cut short this is what I tried to see if the BT Module had been fitted to mine (unfortunately it wasn't) apologies if you have tried this.
Switch the vehicle’s ignition on (position II).
Press Phone symbol.
Enter code ##3##*#
The message 'Discover Me' should be displayed to confirm the system is ready to pair with a Mobile Phone.
Switch on your mobile phone’s Bluetooth connection, using the phone’s menu.
Select 'search for other Bluetooth Devices'
Select 'Jaguar' in your phone’s paired device list.
Enter the Passkey on your Mobile Phone (the Passkey is 1313).
Should then display 'Phone Connected'
If display is 'Handset In Use' switch off ignition, wait 5 minutes and try again.
Once a mobile phone has been paired with the vehicle, the system will look for the same phone each time the ignition is switched on. If no phone is detected, the message ‘No BT Phone’ will appear on the touch-screen to confirm that no phone is connected after approximately three minutes.

Re: Oh no two weeks second problem.
So I disconected the battery and left for ten mins, reconnected and the system re started???? Followed the blue tooth instructions as Dougs post, and we are back up and running. I have no idea why this happened, and what the cause was, but chuffed its working again.
Thanks everyone

Re: Oh no two weeks second problem.
This electronic stuff can get confused on occasions. A memory hard dump as you have just done, clears out the memory and de clutters the situation. A car full of fault codes often does strange things. Fix the fault, clear down and off you go again. Done that many times.
Doug is a bit of a wiz on these things. Top guy.
