Info of specific engine

Postby Lester » Sat Oct 11, 2014 12:09 pm

Hi, I've just purchased an unfinished XJ6 based "Aristocat" and am trying to track down some info as the car has little paperwork (I know - i should have checked first!). The V5 is for a series 3 "A" but the engine number is different to that on the V5. Is there any way of finding any history from the engine number? It is EAO 2061 PA (or may be EA62061PA).

Having now taken delivery I'm not sure this was my wisest decision but I'm sure 6 months work and a bucket of £s will see it ti IVA!

Thanks
Lester

Hello Lester
Welcome to the board. Sorry I can not help you with your specific question but there is a wealth of knowledge here in the JEC.
There is an Aristocat club and I met a number of them at the JEC anniversary event at Thorsby hall and they will be able to help you with many of your build questions.
We also have a replica section on this bulletin board and while not that many members post to it our readership is quite strong and so feel free to make use of it as well.

Thank you Neil, In fact I had the wrong engine number, it should be 8L97166 - HZ perhaps someone can help with this now I've got the correct nbr. I know that the 8 refers to compression ratio (8:1) but would like to know what car it came from - I'll keep looking.
I'll join the Aristocat club, thanks for the tip, I will certainly need some help with my build.
Kind regards
Les

Hi,
According to my information, you have a series 3 XJ high compression (that's the H on the end of the number) engine. Good luck with the build. Mike.
