Steadman TS100 Videos

Postby RoyC » Thu Jul 31, 2014 5:08 pm

I just discovered this promo video for the Steadman TS100, made by Ottercraft in Hayle, Cornwall in the late 1980s.

Steadman TS100 Promotional Video 1987: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=f67QTyWdoiE

Ottercraft Ltd - The Steadman TS100: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ck0zimygiEk (poor quality, local TV news clips)

Steadman Cars / Ottercraft went out of business in 1991. Only 28 TS100s were built.

Roy. I looked at the Steadman sites and found them of great interest. They are an interesting car. They have created an interesting small club . I sometimes think its a pity there isn't a Suffolk owners club but as we as spread far and wide it may not be very practical. (and before anyone suggests it I have not the time or ability to start one.) We are of course able to come together as it where via the JEC. Club as at present. Cheers John.

John,
I completely agree with your comments. I have spoken to Roger about the possibility of an owners club however I think he has enough on his hands just running the company. I am hoping that Roy, Neil and myself ( plus Steve who has just sold his ) will be at the VSCC meet at Snetterton in the autumn.
I have also spent yesterday with another Suffolk owner David, who lives in Suffolk. He has been reading our "ramblings" but as yet has not put finger to key board. I am hoping to get him to come to the VSCC as well.

I was at VSCC Prescott yesterday and was parked in the VSCC members car park, close to another Suffolk (although I didn't see the owners until they were leaving). I was surprised at the attention my car received, even though most of the knowledgeable VSCC folk knew it was a replica. One chap, a serial vintage car owner, had swopped his Alvis for a Suffolk and was interested in our activities.

I'm not sure we will have enough interest for a stand-alone club and, as John rightly points out, who has the time to start and run it?, but at least we have a home in the JEC, although there must be a few in the JDC.

At least I have the badge!

Roy,
I have it mind to try for a meet amongst those who we know about to have a breakfast meet at Snetterton this autumn. More details when I have thought it through as I hope to meet another Suffolk owner prior to that which could bring our numbers up to 6 which would be really good.
I will e-mail you and Neil with details plus I will put it on this site and hope for the best.
Where did you get the badge, I like it?

John,

That would be really great. Steve, whose SS Roger is now using, lives near Woodbridge, I am in The Broads, David is somewhere around Diss, Neil is in Lincoln and Roy is the Big City Sliker in London.
The best meeting place ( for a first time) would be the VSCC meet at Snetterton. I will put some thoughts together and let everyone know.
So as not to clutter the site up too much, would you like to p.m. me your e-mail, I can then send a "round robin" to all.

Roy,
I went onto Badgecraft site but it won't show anything in magenta. Is this the only place the SS badge is available as far as you know? As to price, is it more than £30.00 which seems about average?

Reg,

Try three times that figure!

The couple that run Badgecraft (down in deepest Devon) make them by hand.

Genuine originals go from around £400-£800.

Further to Roy's Steadman Videos, I have been in e-mail contact with Mike who is the chairman of the Steadman owners club.
As our cars are similar in concept if not in execution, I thought there may be some areas of interest to us all. He is in agreement but not currently a JEC member. Following my 'mails he is now enthused enough to join so I think we will need a Steadman sub section on the BB. Hopefully this may lead his members to join and contribute to our happy family.
