Good to see you all today. Weather perfect and it was great to make a few new friends.
I can bear witness to Bill and Steve chasing each other. They caught up with me south of Marlborough so it turned into a rapid 3 XJS convoy!
Many thanks to Bill for the pint in Wilton and thanks to Steve for agreeing to deliver the sport wheels to go on my V12 and I even got a new cruise control switch surround for the coupe from Vince so a successful and enjoyable day.
Looking forward to the next one!!
Best wishes
David

Vince - thanks but they are completely different. It's a common mistake as they look very similar in a photo but the S Type badge is plastic and stick-on. The Celebration badge is of a much higher quality and bolts through the bonnet. It's made of metal and enamel and was peculiar to the Celebration - that's why they're so rare! when you out the 2 side by side the difference is more obvious.
For the sake of anyone confused by this, I mentioned to Vince that I was looking for a new bonnet badge for my Celebration when we met at the weekend as mine is damaged. I did find a new one but it got damaged before I fitted it to the car!

After the first couple of Breakfast meetings I think I can say that the idea and format works well, friendly, informal and doesn't last all day. Full credit to Vince for his initiative and drive and long may it continue.

However, I am aware that many members would love to attend, but live too far away so I am wondering if the idea can be extended to other areas. All you need is a decent cafe with ample parking. I'm sure people here know of suitable places where they live so how about suggesting some?

To start with, how about the Departure Lounge Cafe, between Alton and Basingstoke http://www.thedepartureloungecafe.co.uk/ far enough away not to clash yet opening it up for those in the London / South East areas.

Of course many are committed with holidays and other events currently, but how about if I suggested Saturday 6th Sept 10.00 till 12.00 to see if there is interest.

102 miles (Cheltenham) v's Alton 113 miles

Great idea. So we have Sat 6th Alton and ....

Vince - when is the next Cheltenham breakfast meet?

I did say that I would try and make one of these meets, so this me putting my petrol bill and Millers fuel boost where my mouth is :)

next one is looking to be Saturday the 30th of August ,

i cant make this one as i'm on holls,

there has been a comment about making it a Sunday ( 24th ? ) so a few others may be able to attend outside of working hours etc, thats fine as long as the majority express their wishes for this and commit to it , otherwise i would like it to stay the last Saturday of the month , just for ease of organisation so its not jumping around and peeps dont know which day it is,as a lot of online members dont back read the threads to find out the days

but as ever , this is totally informal and everyone can do as they wish

i would like this to be ' cross forum ' on the JEC site , as we are only seeming to attract XJS's at the moment ,and i would like a few other Jags to turn up if they want , is there a way of adding this info to the whole board rather than posting the same info in every forum for each car type

Isn't that the Club Comment "Social and Events" section?

my point exactly

i have posted this in the social section , but it appears you have not read that bit yet ?

which is my point to some degree , not everyone visits that particular section of the board, but i need to stuff it down their throats to at least read it ...as you well know, peeps are essentially blind unless you shine a light in their eyes as to what is going on
