i propose to meet at kemble airfield ( near Cirencester , Gloucestershire ) on a Saturday morning during the summer, say once a month ,

just like some other groups do ,
not necessarily to coincide with the XK8 group if they still go there


this is a totally informal meed to have coffee and kick tyres for our local region or anyone who wants to travel 100 miles to slurp coffee ,

the airfield has a really nice caffe , with sit down facilities , inside and out , and nice toilets , lol

what do you think ?

and when should be have the inaugural meet up ?

well , looking at the calendar , this month we have the 21st and the 28th , for a Saturday morning ,

am thinking of about 0930-1000 to turn up , all totally informal and non official ,

i know Thoresby is the weekend of the 21st, but i won't be going to that as its a 2.5 hour each way trip ,

and i know Phil and Ruby will come along work permitting , so that makes four cars so far ( all XJS's )

your thoughts ?

There is a charity fly in this Saturday (21st June) at Kemble organised by Bristol Aero Club based at Kemble, BarBQ raffle etc. in aid of Fly2Help. I know the Charity well and it's well worth supporting.
It looks as tho XK Club don't meet at Kemble anymore?
I support Pistonheads monthly meet there on a fairly regular basis.
Since I work there it's a bit of a busman's holiday for me and I'm sure you won't want the German three pointed Star spoiling your line-up

Do persevere, as I've said here many times before you can lead a horse to water.....

FYI the XKs still meet 2nd Saturday, they were 10 there last week.
Pistonheads used to meet there 4th Saturday, but that seems to have run down, athough itii might pick up with the weather.

If you want a drive out, like aeroplanes and good weather, then try Kemble tomorrow.
Canberra PR9 XH134 departs approx. 3.15 for Weston Super Mare Airshow, I think it's displaying and coming straight back so probably return before 4.00pm.
BBQ confirmed today also home made cakes and Rocky Mountain Road.
Charity contributions are a must!
Hopefully we will be there from about 1.00-4.00
Look for the Merc SL350 in Silver Pale Blue metallic!

Saturday 28th may not be the best choice, it's Classic and Sportscar Action Day at Castle Combe.

That's where we'll be, along with hundreds of other enthusiasts (of all Marques). JEC usually has a large stand, why not meet up there?
NB there is an entrance fee, I think it's £12.00.

thanks to everyone who braved the downpours to go to Kemble today,

it was a good to meet up and chat, and a full english breakfast went down well to

honours of the day to Pop rivet for driving nearly 90 miles just for a coffee ,

4 cars for our inaugural meeting isn't bad at all

maybe a few more next time ,
