MKII Specialist in (around) Kent

Postby Barry62 » Thu Jun 12, 2014 11:32 am

Hi there, I have a 1964 2.4 MKII and I need some work done on the top end of the engine, a rebuild of the Moss gearbox and probably a re-wire. I am based in Dover, Kent and used to use Peter Thurston near Sandwich but I am not sure if he is still trading. Can anyone reccommend someone in the Kent area (or close) who would carry out this working to a good standard.

I am also looking for a good upholsterer to re-trim the car. The car has little value but I have owned it for 24 years and still drive it and want to spend some money on it.

Many thanks.

Hi Barry,

I can only think of Ken Bell, a long way from you, he is near Guildford, 01483 852276.

I can recommend Andrew at Collier Street Garage http://www.collierstreetgarage.co.uk for all mechanical aspects, he has done a lot of work on my Mk2 and S-type over the years.

I've used Klassik Transmissions http://www.klassiktrans.co.uk for a gearbox rebuild, good service and price (but in Wolverhampton). Also Hardy Engineering in Leatherhead so not too far http://www.hardyengineering.co.uk have done both gearbox & diff on one of my race cars, more pricey but a very good reputation in racing circles.

Classic Coachbuilders in Sittingbourne do excellent bodywork & trimming. No website, tel 01795 844 244

Good luck!
