This may sound a trivial question but I'm looking at the top of the engine and am a bit overwhelmed as to where to start ... Can anyone give me a few pointers as to what needs removing so I can gain access to all 12 plugs please ? I don't want to be taking off stuff that I dont need to and want to have good access to the plugs to avoid a cross thread.
Any help is much appreciated.
I should point out its an 1989 Daimler double six.

Re: Sparkplug removal V12
It slightly depends on how good a plug spanner you have, but I needed to dismount the compressor to get to 1A and B. Best advice I was given was to take it slow and steady, getting the plug leads back on fully and in the correct sequence needs a bit of care, too.

Re: Sparkplug removal V12
I always blow out the plug sockets with compressed air before taking out the plug just to make sure that nothing falls into the cylinder when I pull the plug out. The vee on a V12 and the position of the plugs naturally collects dirt.
There is also a tool you can get from the Club's tools and spares dept to make it easier to get around the aircon compressor. It's quite hard to get at the front 2 plugs on each side. However, as mentioned earlier, I prefer to unbolt the compressor and move it out of the way. There's no need to disconnect it - there is enough flex in the pipes to be able to move it around.
