Just joined the club, got a 2.7 diesel (2004) now just looking for which local region would be closer for me. I live in Southport, any ideas?

Welcome, Peter.

Good to have you with us.

Take a look in the Regions section of this site. That will help you decide where is most convenient for you to link up with other local JEC members.

Feel free to join in activities on our Bulletin Boards. Ask any questions and someone will soon reply.

Kind regards.

Hi Peter, welcome. I am in Liverpool, there may be a local group of the JEC, unsure, there is definitely an active group of the Jaguar Drivers Club covering Cheshire, Merseyside and Lancashire. I get the email from them each month and they seem to be very active. I confess I have not been to any meetings though, as generally too busy. If you want contact details let me know. Hope you enjoy the S Type, I loved mine and foolishly part exchanged it for an XF when it broke down, big mistake !

There's an interesting comment Andy, - and I regret changing it - care to amplify!

Indeed, the S type was the nicest Jag I had owned, (except for the front end appearance!), it broke down on the driveway and eventually had to be literally dragged off as it was stuck in park and rear wheels were locked. Local jag dealer said gear interlock needed replacing and would cost £600, so in frustration I part exd it for a used XF, but it was a petrol version, not diesel. Never warmed to it, so sold at a great loss after 6 months! Purchased a X300 off ebay instead and never looked back, till I saw Rob's high mileage XJR, but that's another story....

So should have kept the S type and had it repaired, that Diesel engine was fantastic.

PS: Don't get me wrong, the XF is a fantastic car, but no more so than a new BMW or Merc in my opinion, whilst the S Type and the old XJs are more what I think of as Jaguar, but then that's only my view...

Thanks for your replies, I must say that I popped into Capesthorne Hall at the weekend and met up with the Red Rose Region, really nice bunch of guys, and my thanks to Dave who took the time to explain to me how the club works and it's benefits, (good salesman), I hope I can join this region and get involved.

Welcome Peter,

I hope your S type treats you well, if not, we have a vast array of knowledge on here to help you.
