Right, its a bit quiet here lately so what plans do you all have for the fast approaching spring summer autumn?
Yes, there are some organised JEC events, there are also some XJS specific events but there are also many miles of open road out there to enjoy. Petrol is cheaper then it has been for a while so there really are no excuses, start planning that trip now and let us all know your ideas.
Wherever your outing takes you how about writing a bit about it, your experiences and your thoughts. Take a few photos and share your story with us all either on here or by submitting it to the magazine for an article. It's easy and also a great buzz to see your words in print. We all enjoy reading these articles but it only happens if someone makes the effort.
One of the places I've wanted to visit for a while is the museum of speed at Pendine Sands in Wales (Google it), and I'm hoping I will get there after Easter. I might combine it with a coastal tour around Wales to visit the Pontcysyllte Aqueduct.

Re: This year?
Over 170mph (280km/h) on sand in 1927!

Pathe intro clip looks like he did it pretty wet conditions! They have the car from the fatal last attempt there that was buried in the sand for over 40 years.
Average Le Mans speeds just going over 100km/h then and grand prix cars max of 130mph and Austin Swallow 7 introduced.
I've got a camping trip to Le Mans Classic with a few old Porsches for my big trip this year. 1st time down there and looking forward to it.

Re: This year?
Blimey, quieter then I had thought. Only two replies and one (maybe both) of them don't have an xjsRight, its a bit quiet here lately so what plans do you all have for the fast approaching spring summer autumn?
Don't be shy, we need inspiration
Re: This year?
If you have an idle minute, have a look at www.jec-lincsnorth.com where you will see our plans for the year ahead and some events by other clubs in the area.

Re: This year?
You are right, it has been quiet, I thought that the forum was down!
I've got 2 XJS's, an '86 Cabriolet and and an '89 XJR-S (another mad moment on Ebay!).
I got so frustrated with trying trying to fix the headlights on the Cabbie last year that I basically gave up completely and left it festering over the winter so it's not in good shape at the moment.
Anyway, talked to a nice chap from Norwich who came to have a look and he is going to trailer it away and swap it for work on the XJR-S which suits me fine.
The R-S cost me £100 to get MOT'd (a bit of chassis welding and 2 exhaust mounts) and then promplty developed huge front end shimmy under braking so that looks like a suspension rebuild (it's not the discs).
So hopefully I will be looning around in a nice XJR-S for the summer and can stop fretting about the Scabby Cabbie.
An upshot of this is that I will have some bits that I have been collecting for the Cabbie to sell once I get sorted:
TWR body kit, complete, (black)needs a bit of repair work to the left rear but otherwise in good solid condition. I will be taking the rear spoiler off the XJR-S (Solent Blue) and swapping it for the later type that I have so the TWR style one will go with the body kit.
Complete set of twin headlights with new halogen lamps (the lamps are fine, the fault is in the control circuitry somewhere).
I have a full spare set of 15" Speedline alloys which I am going to refurbish and put on the XJR-S so the original ones will be up for sale when that is done.
I've got some other bits saved up but I'll have to ferret through the boxes to see what is there.
I've also got a V12 recored radiator, a complete set of V12 hoses and drive belts but I will probably hang on to them in case they are needed on the XJR-S.
Once that is all sorted I can get back to work on the boat and get that ready for the season.
Probably have to fit in some employment around all that as well!
