Hi,
I'm an owner of a Mk2 Jaguar, which has been off the road (under cover) for the past 20 years. I need to get it back on the road this year, and the clutch has seized. I've solved this problem on other cars before, but never on this particular model; I know this is a relatively common problem, so wondered if there are any helpful hints or tips anyone can offer who has faced this particular problem? Any thoughts welcome!
Best regards,
Roy
Freeing seized clutch - any advice?

Re: Freeing seized clutch - any advice?
Hello Roy,
I've always freed these by driving the car. Get the engine up to operating temperature, switch off and select first gear, press and hold the clutch down and start the engine. The car will move off straight away, heel and toe to brake and apply power and it should free quite easily. Needs some room for peace of mine but I've rarely gone much beyond a car length or so.

Re: Freeing seized clutch - any advice?
I agree with Alec. It sounds brutal but works and better than trying to start it in gear with the foot on the brake. I have found that in winter if my car is left over a month this can happen and the clutch sticks on. Do not like the thought of wedging the clutch pedal down when leaving for a while as system will be pressurised. Only trouble is, getting the car out of the garage first before trying it! So I try to regularly run the car and use the clutch either with a run or in situ in the garage.
