Cupholder repair

Postby maxbozon » Sun Sep 01, 2013 3:53 pm

Hi!

Has anyone tried this http://britishparts.co.uk/products/7130 ... -GNA7692AB to repair a broken cupholder?

Cheers,

Max,

Haven't tried it myself but it's just the normal Jaguar part, so it is just the internal cupholder part of your existing armrest. You can buy it from Jaguar (£99 + vat) so depending on your relationship with your local dealer you might be able to negotiate 20-25% discount plus there's no shipping cost to your local dealer.

You could also ring someone like Neville at Jaguar Spares North East and buy a 2nd-hand unit which you can then strip to repair your own. That would be a cheaper option.

Good luck with the repair.

Hello!

So I have finally got my hands down to write about my experience with the repair.

I'll start with what was originally on my car. Apparently somebody has already broken it before (which is fairly easy when trying to exit the car!) and what they came up with was this a bit messy epoxy solution, but it did work. Also I didn't even notice it when I was buying the car, it is really hidden!

So I bought off this new repair kit, which seems to be manufactured just one year ago! (I have also recently replaced power steering pump, and the one I got from Jaguar Heritage was manufactured in May this year)

And now what's in the bag, for those who are interested:

The replacement procedure is fairly easy -- unscrew everything and then crew it back in :) (but be careful with some old plastic bits, old ones can break, as did one of the screw fixings of the front lid in my case)

I am not posting any pics of how that looks when repaired, since it simply looks normal :)
