Aerial

On my cleaning of The Dragon I noticed that the aerial appears to be a 5 piece telescopic unit but only 3 of mine come out, the top 2 smaller one and the larger base one. Is it a 5 piece unit and 2 are just sticking? If so I will try the trusty fish oil (WD 40). Not going to try anything more drastic than that as the radio functions perfectly well, so if it ain't broken I'm not going to mend it.

Re: Aerial
Hi Geoff,
It's a common problem. Given persistence and a little luck, a few applications of WD40 should get the rest of the aerial's sections to operate as intended. Afterwards, ensure you remove the excess oil or it will attract dirt and further sticking problems will result. Mike.

Re: Aerial
I also had a similar problem and had replaced the aerial mast (some years ago).
I found that on my annual Bavaria trips the somewhat 'swifter Autobahn drives' caused the top of the aerial to bend backwards until these top sections would not extend out after a while.
The aerial now only shows two sections in use and I am happy with this as the reception is still ok. In fact I much prefer it this way over the 'whiplashing rod' contraption.
