Bootlid

Postby owen1 » Mon May 20, 2013 1:49 pm

My bootlid will not stay up in the open position, but rather descends slowly until the catch digs into my back if I am leaning into the boot, and it hurts!

Does anyone know if it possible to retension the mechanism so that the bootlid stays open?

Hello Owen,

are all the springs in place and in one piece?

I would imagine re tensioning them will be more expensive than replacing them, if they are available that is? Another option is to fit a damper strut.

Alec

Thank you for the reply.

The springs are in place and appear to be all in one piece. I think that time has weakened them and so they are now incapable of supporting the weight of the bootlid.

Secondhand ones seem expensive and of course there is no guarantee that they will be any better so I will probably just continue using the prop that I have made up. I have never seen any new ones for sale.

Owen
