First trip out............

Postby Brakebuster » Mon Apr 01, 2013 1:52 pm

well , i Tax'd her today , and decided to fill her up and have a drive round

As luck would have it there is a fellow club member here in Glos , and he has an XJS as well, so a quick call , and told him i was coming round,,lol sorry Phil :D

this is the first time ever driving the car socially , yup , eight years of ownership , and i have only ever loaded it on and off transporters, and run it up and down my own drive , lol

and the result.........

well , she got me there, and got me back , no temp problems , no knocks or bangs , no grinding ( of either kind )

bring on Gaydon ?

After seeing your car, prior to respray etc, I can say it is definitely in showroom condition now, with all the credit to your hard work. I will look forward to trying to keep up with your V12 in
my straight 6.

Another one saved from the breakers.

Pity you don't live nearer as we have a run planned for Apr 21st Drive It Day and your car would look just great on it -----unless you fancy a trip to North Lincs when I will be delighted to send you full details.

Yes you can't beat getting a car back on the road again after such a long wait and effort and expense. My drive back from the restorers last month was quite eventful and ended a mile from home with a non-starting engine caused by somebody, not me, putting the anti run-on vacuum pipe onto the right hand carb overflow pipe..............

Please could you forward me some details for North Lincs Drive It Day please (sorry to ambush the thread)
