Facelift tyre pressures

Postby Jon » Sat Jun 24, 2006 10:16 am

I've recently stuck a set of the later 16" 5-spoke wheels on my '87 3.6 (apologies to those purists, if we have any 8) ). I'm running them at 32 psi which I imagine isn't far off, but I'd be interested to see what the book says. Can anyone advise?

Thanks.

According to my 4.0 celebration handbook:

225/55 ZR 16
Comfort Setting:
Front 26 lb/ft
Rear 28 lb/ft

Normal setting
Front 34 lb/ft
Rear 38 /lb/ft

225/60 ZR 16
Comfort:
Front 26 lb/ft
Rear 28 lb/ft

Normal
Front 34 lb/ft
Rear 36 lb/ft

I have a Stag with Rover v8 and I do not care what others think, it should have been a Rover engine in the first place! It reduces the value of the car but that suits me - I am not in it for £s, I love the noise it makes and the fun the kids have in the back. Everyone should have one!!

I am sure the later wheels on your jag look great! Do you need to check whether any change in diameter has affected the speedometer?

Graeme,

Thanks very muchly for that.

Seems odd that the rear tyre pressures be greater than the front on a nose heavy car. But then thats jaguar for you!

I worked out the wheel diameter prior to fitment, and 225/60/16 is within about 1% of 215/70/15.
