Fuel Filter

Postby Tailsme » Wed Dec 05, 2012 12:56 am

Can anyone tell me where the fuel filter is on my 2005 XJ8L (350) 4.2 Petrol V8? I have looked everywhere and cannot find it. I am in the USA and therfore have a left hand drive if that makes any difference.

Hi there , I am not sure on this one as my 350 is a diesel, but I hope someone will post up its location very soon. I will also make further enquiries. You could also email David Marks or XJK Garages who deal with technical enquiries. Their emails are on the website or in the magazine and will usually reply witin a couple of days.

I don't think the LHD configuration makes a difference. I think you'll find the fuel filter behind the left front wing splash shield.

Good luck

Fuel filter on the V6 petrol is behind the undertray on the passenger side (UK) near to the front wheel. No need to take the wheel splash cover off. Can't see why it would be different for the V8.

Easy job to change 1.5 hours.

To confirm, on a V8, the fuel filter is up under the centre tray, near side, approximately on an extended line down from the front of the passenger door/rear of front wing shut line, inboard of the sill cover. Removal of the tray section is desirable but corrosion of the captive nuts inside the long chassis leg often prevents easy fixing removal. The captive nuts can spin inside the chassis leg. That is a real nause as it prevents the section of tray dropping down to gain access to the filter.

If the filter has not previously been changed, then I`d advise getting the car up high enough to tackle the fixings issue. Changing the filter is easy compared to getting these sections of under-tray removed!
