Windscreen wipers!
Hi - I'm looking a number of E types to buy, either a coupe or a 2+2. One I have seen (in an advert) appears to be ideal, is a 2+2, restored and retrimmed, at an (almost) reasonable price! The vendor has given me the chassis number which seems to check out as being a UK car, but from the photos, I see that the wipers park on the passenger side rather than the driver's. I always thought that the wipers on LHD cars parked on the left and on RHD, parked on the right. Can anyone advise me further on this as the car is a couple of hundren miles from whereI live and I don't want a wasted journey! Thanks
Re: Windscreen wipers!
My Series 1 2+2 RHD matching numbers, UK registered, the 3 wipers park drivers side.

Re: Windscreen wipers!
Thanks Geordie - seems to bear out that wipers on RHD park on the right (driver's), LHD park on the left (passenger's - or driver's if still LHD!). Anyone got any info on whether wipers on any RHD cars parked on the left - none of the books have mentioned it.
Thanks for any help.

Re: Windscreen wipers!
There's a different wiper motor for lhd cars Just found a picture of a lhd car with the wipers parked on the left
Re: Windscreen wipers!
Thanks - I still can't work out why an apparently genuine RHD car has its wipers parked to the left. Maybe some time in the past, some nefarious individual gave the car a new 'identity' with a new chassis plate etc. Can't really afford the risk of buying a duff car so might have to look elsewhere unless anyone else can help! Re: Windscreen wipers!
Geordie - it's beautiful! Alas, it is a condition of the 'Steering Committee' (as one journalist put it) that I sell one of my cars before I buy an E-Type to which I reluctantly agreed. The car I'm selling (a new model XK Convertible) is currently in Autotrader and E-Bay but with this weather, it's not a good time to sell a convertible. If someone comes along with the cash, you'll be the first person I'll call to see if it is still available. Good luck (although not too much!). Thanks for letting me know. Malc
