I am interetsted in prepping a car to get started in racing with the club. My preference would to buy a car already prepared to race but I can't seem to locate one.
My family and I went to the races at Silverstone and talked with some of the drivers. We also spoke to Terry and the drivers at Weston. Those interactions solidified my decision to jump in.
To that end I bought a 1984 xjs V12. it appears there is more corrision on the car than expected and it may not be a good foundation for a race car. Luckily I didn't invest too much in it. If I am going to prep one myself I could use some rcommendations on who can do the chassis work, strengthening, safety cage etc and who to talk to about engines, etc.
I am located in Cambridgeshire between Kettering and Huntingdon. Recommendations, advise, and sugestions about how to proceed are greatly appreciated.

Hi Jay,
Really pleased your getting ready to race prep, also somewhat jealous, been a dream of mine for years.
There are a number of existing race teams who provide race prep assistance. Terry Dye would be the best person to point you in the direction there.

I know Cov Cats and Kutuka are two successful teams that offer the service. I know there are others so speak to Terry, also try speaking to Roger Webster (leicester Region) as I know as the old driver liaison he will know who may have bits going at a favourable rate.
Good luck, and I hope to see you at a track soon. Keep me informed how your progressing.

Hi Jay,
Ray is also a first class driver, being our ARDs representative. A Guy Called Ralph Hosier wrote an interesting article, ex club member and racer. You can find him on twitter and is always willing to offer advice. @RalphHosier
His article is on the board, but here it is.
