Hi, i'm looking to get some scratches and a bit of surface rust on the leading edge of a door repaired/ painted, got chips away coming to look at it and give us a price. Has anybody used them or had reports about them or can you recomend any other mobile repairer as these are small areas so dont think it needs attention of body shop who may say i need to spray complete panels. Cheers

Re: Paint repairs
Chips Away, Chris have a good reputation for small mobile repairs.
I`ve used Shines which have an agency with Halfords. The bottom line is the work standard is only as good as the mobile operator. The guy who turned up to do a few repairs on my old red V6 was superb. An ex Ferrari panel man in fact.
I supplied some 240v electricity, he set up a tent and I made coffee and sandwiches. All done and dusted in a couple of hours using standard prep and flating techniques but using a small air brush spray gun instead of the usual large DeVilbiss type unit used to spray complete panels at normal repair shops.
The three repairs done cost around £140, five years ago. The colour and metallic blend in was excellent and the repairs "melted" into the old paintwork. You will find most of these companies are reluctant to tackle a repair if for instance it is in the middle of a door. Parking rash on bumpers or turns on wheel arches don`t tend to be so noticeable.
I`d say you could make use of such services with a good degree of confidence. The beauty of using such people is that repairs are done so quickly. You have the operators undivided and immediate attention and you don`t loose the use of the car for three or four days. You are also not paying towards the standing overheads of running a paint shop either.
