Hi,

I am a new member, and please to see that there is a forum for the new models 8)

I had a XJS V12 in the 80's but have resently bought an XF to use as an everyday car.

Loveing the car and as yet its only let me down once with the gear selector jamming :(

but all is well now.

Cheers

Hi Dave

Thanks for this - sorry for not responding sooner, but I forgot that there were other sections in the Bulletin Board!!! (Senior Moment - last of many, of late!!!)

Glad to hear you like the XF - I think mine is wonderful. Which version (engine/trim level) do you have?

I'm hoping to "borrow" a 2.2SE - the new entry level model - soon, and will do a review of this in Jaguar Enthusiast. Anything you feel that I should concentrate on in this exercise, please let me know.

Thanks again for coontributing.

Hi Hugh,
Richard in France here, is the sticking gear lever a well know occurance is it something that needs regular maintanence. I have not had the problem but would like anticipate if possible.

BTW: I ended up buying tyres from KwikFit in Taunton at almost half the price of my original French quotation

Hi Richard - good news on the tyre front.

The "sticking" gear selector is a known fault, albeit not a very common one.

I've heard of 2 XFs that have had this problem and both had the central mechanism changed, with no further faults.

I'm not sure that it is possible to perfom preventative maintenance on the selector but I will check with our tech guys to see.

THanks for this.

Hi Hugh,

did you ever hear anything back about the sticking gear knob mine has done it a couple of times now and as the car is now out of warranty I was wondering if there is anything I can do to improve this issue

Cheers
