Hi
The rear parking sensors on my 2001 xj8 are starting to play up, usually seeing things that aren't there, or worse occasionally missing things that are there. Is there a sensor or something similar that needs replacing?
Thanks Mark

Re: Rear parking sensors
if i remember right its the ultrasonic sensors that are failing, but its always worth checking the connections to all the items before buying replacements , there is a plug on the back of each sensor , and then the loom into the ' brain ' in the boot , plus the power supply loom
if you need to buy some sensors , give me a shout , i have some available

Re: Rear parking sensors
I`ve had a few minor problems with the sensors over the years as well.
A clean up of the behind bumper cover plug connectors often does the trick. The sensors operate unseen and unloved with little or no maintenance in a filthy and damp environment. No surprise then that they occasionally give up on the job. In a couple of instances just wriggling the connector got them going again.
Handbrake well on and with the car in reverse, you should hear them ticking if you put your ear to them. The one not ticking is usually the one with the problem.
