water Leak

Postby hector » Thu Dec 29, 2011 10:25 am

My X308 Yr 2000 has a water leak when put through a car wash, there seems to be water in the top gulley then clears once car is on the move. The water comes in to the car via the brake pedal. this only happens when the car is in the wash under presure. Is there a drain pipe that could be blocked, any ideas?

Hi,

Almost bound to be either a blocked drain plug from beneath windscreen somewhere, check by pouring water onto screen and then using a straightened wire coat hanger to poke down the drain holes, or a grommet surrounding a cable running from the bulkhead to the footwell. Had the latter problem on mine a few years ago, turned out that when the speedo cable was replaced the bulkhead grommet had not been fitted properly, so water ran along the cable into the footwell. Bit of systematic detective work should find the problem. Good luck!

Thank's Andy, looking at the front I guess I will have to remove the plastic cover.

Yes, I think so, if you pour water over the screen you should see the water draining, from memory I think it drains to wheel arch areas both sides?
