Just a note to get something on the E Type section, went to Sandown on Saturday, about 12 or so E Types plus CMC's Low Drag restoration, also ther first and last E Types produced, very nice indeed. Had Norman Dewis look over the XKER and he gave it a strong thumbs up.
This week the XKER is off for a photo shoot for some reality TV show, will let you know how it all goes.
Regards
Pat

Re: Is the E Type section dead?
Hi Pat
I like the XKER. I bet it goes well.
I don't know what's happened to the E-Type forum, it was quite lively before Armageddon.
Let's just keep talking to each other and maybe others will join in.
I need to get my Series 1 FHC finished before next summer because my Daughter wants me to drive her to church in it to get married, rather than a limo (or my Daimler). It's still a painted shell with rear suspension installed.
That said, the radius arm mounts don't line up with the radius arms (about 1/2" out) so I'm going to have to grind them off and re-weld them a little further forward. Rather annoying as the body shop was given explicit details and a copy of the jaguar drawing of the suspension points so there can't be many excuses. It'll make a hell of a mess of my lovely body schutz.

Re: Is the E Type section dead?
Well, I've only just joined and noticed that there weren't many recent posts, but I've posted a couple and the replies were really helpful - and there's loads of good info! Perhaps there'll be more activity over the winter?
Cheers, Simon.

If not too late don't be too quick in grinding off the mounts as they go under tension when fitted. If you are sure they are in the wrong place then fine carry on. Another point is when reattaching, be careful not to weld to the outer floor pan as they need to be secured to that whole box section. There are special rivets that hold the cup in place which transfers the load to the complete floor not just the outer sheet steel.
Tried to upload a piccy of Norman Dewis with the XKER, but technology has defeated me

Done the photo shoot, the reality TV show is called "The only way is Chelsea" or some such. Lots of hanging about in the cold. The photographer sent me a pic of SWMBO and I posing with the car at the end of the day. He can't be much good as I look late middle aged, overweight and bald, doh!

Funny, I thought it was Kelsey Grammer with a Supermodel.
Still not much traffic through here. it used to be so good.
Still, with some of the over-exuberant censoring that seems to be happening elsewhere I'm not surprised traffic is sparse.

Pat, don't know if your still scanning the forum but I thought I'd upload a photo of radius arm mount problem to see if you think it is a problem.
Thanks

I don't see a problem with the siting of the cup. Before jacking the arm into position I would clean back to bare metal the cup surface and coat in Coppaslip or similar and save yourself or the next owner a pig of a job trying to get it off in 5 years time!
