Part Numbers

Postby greeban » Mon Jan 16, 2006 6:55 pm

I have found looking up the blower motor part number using using the JHDT XJS Parts & Service manual that it has several part number listed, along with a VIN number range .

Can I use one of the older parts on my later car or can you only use the part that fits your car's VIN number - I think I already know the answer!!

What parts are you after? Some of the electronic components are available much cheaper elsewhere.

The post-1986 blower unit has a TO3 shaped transistor on a small pcb. I believe earlier to 1986 has a resistance wire coil in the air stream instead, like traditional blower speed controls of the 70's and 80's. These are the delanair 3 and 2 models respectively, different, however it's quite likely the brushes are the same, a common fault with both types.

In answer to Pops' question - the RH blower squeaks, sounds like the bearings are going dry. Is it possible/straightforward to replace or lubricate them?
