Quick hello

Postby kierant » Sat Jul 02, 2011 1:20 pm

Hi all, just hello from a new member.

I'm two weeks into XJS ownership. It's a 1984 6-cylinder manual, originally a 3.6 of course but now fitted with a 1990s 4.0 litre engine from an XJ40, together with a Stag LPG conversion. I'm very impressed with the economy of the latter, although it's definitely a little less smooth and there's a lack of top-end power when running on gas.

The car was sage green originally but has been resprayed in signal red. I must say I never ever expected to have a red car, but it suits an older XJS well and I've been genuinely surprised at the number of "nice Jag" comments I get whenever I park somewhere public!

It's going to be a bit of a rolling-project car, but to get me started, I had a couple of suspension jobs done by Paul and John at JagTechnic near Eastbourne. Great work from them, but now it's time for me to get oily :)

Friends in the Fife region have long been urging me to get a Jaguar and join the club, and since I've always fancied an XJS, I finally caved in. I must thank them for that encouragement, and also the East Sussex region. Having had the car for three days, I went along to the New Place show, and was immediately greeted by the very welcoming group of members who were there. That, together with some great support when I ran into gremlins uploading my car's details here (thanks for that too!), make a very promising start to club membership.

Cheers BB :)

Here's the photo I took for the register — outside a suitably Olde English village church...

Kierant

Welcome to the Bulletin Board.
Your car looks a true classic in that pic :P

Where are you based, Scotland or Sussex? You can put your location in your "signature" which appears on the left hand side of all the posts you make along with an avatar should you wish to do so. It's useful to know a rough location so that other BB members can work out how local you are to them.

Good luck with your car.
Regards
Tony Sproson
