Hi all

Wondered if any one could help or have happen to them, I have a 4.2 r 04 reg, just after coming off the motorway and after filling up with fuel (petrol super 20 miles before) the car at about 50mph lost revs on deceleration and then cut out and then rolled to a stop. The car had to be recovered to a garage (very good indpendent) and work will start tomorrow. The RAC checked the fuel relay, fuel cut out inertia switch, the car would turn over but not run, there were no fault codes that he could read or dash lights oh and the fuel pump was drawing 5amps as it should. If you have any suggestions could you tell me please as a push in the right direction may help.

Thanks Rick

Hello Rick,

I wonder if you have a temperature sensor problem or perhaps an intermittent problem with the throttle body, mass airflow sensor or other ancilliary unit?

I think your mantenance guys will almost certainly interogate the car before begining their work. It is odd that no fault codes have shown up. Most strange.

I have heard of a no go problem on an R. The wiring loom under the air cleaner box had become chafed and caused a non start. That might be worth mentioning to the garage guys.

Perhaps you could let us know how you get over this problem.

Mike

Hi Mike

Thank you for your fast reply I today got the car back the fault was the mass airflow sensor, the car is now running better than before.
But there were no fault codes or warning lights on the dash and the car did not go in to limp home mode. The guy's at the garage just check everything one after the other to find the problem.

Thanks again Rick
