Can anyone help please!!!! I have a headlining that needs re-newing. The old cloth has come away in one piece, but the foundation is crumbling away. Where can I buy material to make the foudation? I have seen many adverts for the cloth, but no one seems to be able to help on the other. Any ideas?

Hi there Linda,

It's probably best to buy a replacement foundation (or biscuit as some call it) from a scrap yard or second hand parts place. It would be almost impossible to make one I would think.

Have a look at my reply on this thread.

It's fairly easy and a lot of fun. The other upside is that your car will smell of New Car for a few months afterwards.

If you want any more help then feel free to ask I've had a fair bit of experience doing this.

The other approach is to see if Jag still make/sell the headlining as a part - amazingly Rover Parts still do so you may be lucky. The price may be a little steep though!

Hi Linda,

I think you'll find that the part number for the headlining id BD47656. I'm not too sure if that helps much but good luck in your search.

Keith

Linda

If the compressed fibre 'biscuit' is breaking up, it is possible to repair it with fibreglass tissue and resin. If you decide to go this route it is better to confine repairs to the side that goes against the roof as any imperfections (lumps) otherwise tend to show up under the new fabric (don't ask how I made this discovery!)

It's difficult to take worthwhile pcitures but if an image would help of a repaired board in situ, let me know?
