I have just joined today and this is a mornings work with two magazines as well. Its my birthday weekend so a nice present.
I have just bought a 95 x300 sport 3.2 and wondered if anyone could tell me why "sport" - is there a non sport version and how does it differ?
Hello! I've the standard??? X300, I think that the sport if auto, hold the gear ratios open for a little longer??? other wise some were manual gearbox'd.
Apart from that, the only things I know of that are different is the wood interior is stained a dark colour and not, as the standard car's, natural colour?
Others might know of more 'technical' differences

Essentially the difference in the Sport spec cars is trim and suspension, dampers are a bit stiffer, seats are firmer and a different design, wood tends to be nearly black, dash top, door rolls and armrest are usually black as well, spec is usually quite low, extras had to be ordered, leecy seats, sunroof, heated seats, heated screen, cruise, whereas on a Sov these were standard, but at least you go alloys as standard on a base XJ 6 you got steelies and dustbin lids!!
Most were autos, the 3.2 engined cars did not have the electronic gerabox, but the 4.0 cars did, this will hold into the gears a bit longer and give a sharper kickbown and change in "sport" mode, XJR models also had the switchable box but a different unit
Manual cars are rare, I reckon less than 5% of 300's were specified as such, mainly 3.2 base XJ6's from what I can see, although ther are a few 4.0 manuals, and I have even see one LWB Daimler 4.0 manual, should have bought that one, I can tell you as a fact there were 103 manual RHD XJR X300's built, out of circa 6K cars, 27 are known to survive, I have two of them here, a very early one, ex jaguar press, and a very late one last but one known to survive, but four from the end of production
Incredibly, it hasn't been out in the rain since Feb 2008! Even that was an accident!! 
And highly traumatic!

only kidding! Used to have one or two V8's, and funnyly enough, they were in Oporto!
