Mk2 history search.

Hi all. My name is Eugene Mc Ardle and a newbe to JEC.
I have a question for my first blog, can anyone help me in tracing the early history of my 1963 Mk2 3.8 mod original registration was 600 FGJ. ? This reg. was transfered just prior to my purchase of the car in 2003.
This maroon Mk2 was one family owned from new to early 2003.
I believe the first owner to be a Mr Lawson from the Worsley area in Manchester or/and Brotton N/R Saltburn On Sea. UK.
I have tried, without success to contact Mr Lawson or his family.
Any help shall be greatly appreciated.

I wrote to the DVLA for the history of my car but the only problem with them they only carry information on the cars since the intrduction of the V5 document. But its worth a try. If you have the Green log book it makes searching the history much easier

Hello Simon, thanks for taking the time to reply.

I bought this Mk2 from a dealer OAKTEC in 2003 and it has been here in N.Ire since. Just prior to my purchase it had its distinctive registration removed (retention cert. ) to be replaced with an A suffix reg.
It was previously traded by Classicarco, (this is as they spell it ! ) . They told me they bought it from a Mr S Lawson 4 Elsham Drive, Worsley, Manchester. M28 ORU. He being the son of origional owner from new. Classicarco noted they had an invoice for transportation of the car from 68 Marshall Drive, Brotton, N/R Saltburn On Sea to there premises ?? if this was at time of purchasing it. (info obtained 5 yrs after they traded it on )
I tried sending correspondence including photo and copy of V5 to both addresses but no replies.

This Mk2 was first registered on 09-04-1963 as 600 FGJ. 3.8Ltr. MOD.
Chassis number is 209052DN , engine No. LC38368.
Color opalescent maroon , cream leather and steel wheels,

I hope this is of help to someone else who may link it to origional owner.
I only ever did get a V5 which gave both dealers details plus stated ONE PREVIOUS OWNER.
I would obviously love to make contact with any of the Lawson family re. this old Jaguar.
Hopefully these new details as given will prompt someone in the JEC from the locality of addresses given above to inquire if anyone knows of the Jag and possibly the Lawson family to enable me to make contact with them.

Ok ,i`ll try the addresses and if no luck the neighbors to see if anyone knows of their address now.Ill also try the electoral roll to see if they are still local.
I was lucky to find my cars 1st owners from 1967 ,they still lived at the same address .Anythings possible.

Thats very good of you, it will be very much appreciated. I know it is a fingers crossed time but one lives in hope.
Should you make contact an update on the Mk2, if their interested.
The car has had a respray in opalescent maroon, matched from spare wheel cover as the paint was very dull and dead. It has also been graced with a set of CWW . When i purchased the car there was a brand new pair of front and rear bumpers and over riders, still in their wrapping, inside the car.
I would assume these were purchased by Mr Lawson as his initial contact with Classicarco was to discuss them restoring the car for him which he intended at the time but decided, im told , against when told approx total cost of work required. Hence Classicarco became owners of 600 FGJ. (probably late 2002 )

Hello Howard,
Your effort and detective work has paid dividends.
I have, through your information, made contact with the gentleman who owned my MK2 from new to 2003.
He was pleased to hear i had bought it from the trader in 2003 and now have it on the road again.
A great majority, I believe, who own vintage /classic vehicles have a desire to have their vehicles history, ownership as well as service.
I am one of this group of owners.
I must say without the JEC and its friendly and very helpful members my Mk2s history would be still on my wish list.
