Hello - Just joined the JEC with my XJ8

Hi Everyone. I have just joined the JEC as I am sure my membership will be in the best interests of my lovely 10 year old pristine silver XJ8 (reg 2000).

I will take some photo's and post them soon. I bought my XJ8 in March 2009 as a one owner car with just 66k miles and it drives like new. It had already had the chains and pretensioners replaced etc. Now has 74k miles and running great. Replaced the usual stuff on a preventative basis, water pump, new thermostat housing (aluminium aftermarket type from britishparts), also rear shocks, new aux belt, etc. Now planning gearbox service and diff oil change but dont know a Kent Specialist yet. If anyone can recommend a specialist anywhere that would be very helpful. Cheers. Mike

I haven't got around to replying to your pm. Sorry.

Just wanted to say that you might consider trying to source the fluid yourself and then paying Surrey Jags for their labour. The big cost of the job is the fluid which has a retail cost of £23 per litre! However, you should be able to source it about £7 per litre if you hunt about on the internet. It's Esso LT71141

My independant scources gearbox oil in bulk from The Oilstore and keeps a drum in his garage.
The word has got around and more service agents are doing this.

i to have just bought a xj8 2002 70,000miles.dont they drive well.
i absolutely love this car. if you do happen to find someone who can change the oil in your gearbox would you let me know, as mine to needs replacing.
