Paul thank you for the information, it is of course good to get the legal stance on matters re your vehicle legalities.
I was not aware of the implications, but if that is the law it does leave us open to prosecution in some cases. We did have a visit to the South Yorkshire Police Headquarters and to go over the police helicopter pad ....we then had a sit in re the traffic matters with some traffic officers who did point out several no nos re number plates.
It does actually boil down to how busy the traffic officers are at the time they settle behind your car.........they are aware of the legal spacing and fonts issues with number plates........believe me. But if you, like me, are only slightly out of sinc (i have one number 1/2 inch to the left out of line) as opposed to some who turn letters around and change numbers with black tape to make a name .....then these are illegal. The numbers and the fonts are a prescribed formula.........if these are abused as some people really do go potty then a prosecution will occur.......i do have a bonafide copy set of plates always in the boot for MOT ect.
If you don't go being clever with police officers and your plates are within reason they will caution you.....if you don't be reasonable and your plates are changed with both font and spacing or worse.. they can prosecute,also confiscate that vehicle number then issue you with a "Q" number for the rest of the vehicles life........i did not know that applied to the country logo strip though........many thanks for that Paul......Joe
