Installing reversing sensors

Postby joejag308 » Mon Dec 15, 2008 11:04 am

Installing reversing sensor system Anyone had to do this on models without sensors ?
Is it complicated to do for a novice?
Correct type of kits to buy,for 308.........these are questions i have received on the subject.
I think all pre 2001 models didn't have sensors fitted.....?

Joe,

i have extensively researched on how to do this,

and the install is very easy to do, however , the problems start with trying to find the right module to fit onto our pre 2000 cars, as the looms changed in 2000, just like the problems with the stereo units , and Jaguar dont do one.....

the loom picks up the feed from the boot accessory power outlet by the battery, then it hooks up to the sensors on the bumper by way of a module, the problem comes with connecting the module to the cars loom, as it needs a reverse light signal to turn on the sensors for reversing, and there isnt a connector provided for this on our cars.....

there is also a remote mounted interior beeper , again, not catered for in our cars..

you can always splice into the loom, but thats not desirable , its the same problem as trying to fit a tow-bar electrics, no universal connector...

there are two ways to do a pre 2000 car, splice into the loom, or replace the boot loom for a later type, but that may incur its own problems....

i aquired a full set of sensors for the back of my car, along with a loom for the sensors, a boot loom , cabin beeper and three different modules, but have no way of connecting them all together without making the interior look like a bowl of spaghetti ,

hoep this helps

BB :(

Vice many thanks for that, i have had a few people asking about it, but i have a guy who used to paint my old XJ 40 and he has fitted a camera reversing system to his old Volvo and he did it himself, they didnt have reversing sensors when that that was made ....he said something about it being a wireless model.....but it was about £99.......Joe

reversing sensors part 2

Postby joejag308 » Tue Dec 16, 2008 5:28 pm

Vince further to your post i have found out that Jaguar have stopped the retro equipment for the reversing sensor kits ( Minster Jaguar) as the demand for them went downhill fast with a ll the cheaper versions on the market the Jag one was £252.75.......So i have approached Eurojag for help........they have got me a system taken from a like for like 1999 car.
My local specialist is going to fit it all after the Christmas break.....so it sounds ok ........but knowing my luck !!!! ?...Joe...

yes it is,

the power pick up lead on the kit should plug into this, and then also have another female outlet on it, so another item can be powered by ' daisy-chain ' if required
